Summary

Dankt für die Anteilnahme an seinem Werk. Erklärt, dass er in den Büchern selbst die einzige mögliche Antwort auf seine Fragen finde. Er habe nebst dem novellistischen Werk politische Essays und andere Studien geschrieben, aber nie in der Absicht, zu lehren, »...it was rather a very personal effort to arrive at what is right and righteous. I am no teacher... If I may hope for any effect of my intellectual existence at all, it will be the effect of my novels exclusively. For with their artistic contents a certain moral attitude and viewpoint are inseparably connected which may – so I believe – influence a receptive reader in a good sense.«
